An open lecture on "Fundamentals of Engineering Ecology" was held
Within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education, an open lecture entitled “Fundamentals of Engineering Ecology” was held. The lecture was delivered by G.Z. Bizhanova, a first-year PhD student of the educational program 8D05205 – Geoecology and Environmental Management at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, under the academic supervision of Associate Professor M. Abdibattayev from the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development.
The main objective of the lecture was to enhance participants’ knowledge of engineering ecology and sustainable development principles, as well as to introduce the environmental impacts of technical systems and methods for mitigating the negative effects of human activities.
The open lecture was intended for students of the Restaurant and Hotel Business educational program. It addressed key environmental aspects of the hospitality industry, including the impact of restaurants and hotels on the environment. Special attention was given to modern environmental protection technologies and practices, such as water and air purification, waste recycling, and efficient resource management. Practical examples of successful environmental solutions were presented, highlighting the competitive advantages of environmentally responsible business practices.
The lecture emphasized how the implementation of green technologies can enhance an organization’s reputation and attract environmentally conscious consumers. In addition, issues related to developing environmental awareness and responsibility among staff and clients were discussed.
