An Online Meeting with Xiamen University Faculty Held at Al-Farabi KazNU within the Framework of SDG 4 and SDG 17

On December 26, 2025, the faculty of Oriental studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international academic meeting with faculty members of Xiamen University (PRC) in an online format. The purpose of the event was to establish partnership with Xiamen University, discuss joint research projects, explore opportunities for joint educational programs, and review the foreign university’s experience in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The meeting was organized within the framework of SDG 4 – Quality Education and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.

The event aimed to strengthen academic cooperation between Xiamen University and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Within the program, the following activities were carried out:

• presentation of Xiamen University’s structure, educational programs, and areas of international cooperation;
• overview of best practices in integrating SDG principles into educational and research activities;
• discussion of opportunities for implementing joint research projects and dual-degree programs;
• consideration of prospects for academic mobility and faculty and student exchanges.

The event was attended by representatives of various groups:

• faculty members of Al-Farabi KazNU – 7 participants;
• faculty and administrative representatives of Xiamen University – 10 participants.

As a result of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to expand international academic partnership, jointly promote the Sustainable Development Goals, and implement concrete collaborative projects in the future.
