A Farewell Event for an Iranian Scholar Was Held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies
A farewell ceremony was held at the Department of the Middle East and South Asia in connection with the completion of the academic visit and departure to her home country of a volunteer lecturer from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Fahimeh Shakiba. During the event, the Dean of the Faculty, M.Sh. Egamberdiev, presented Dr. Shakiba with a letter of appreciation on behalf of the Vice Chairman of the Board – First Vice-Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, E.E. Duissenov.
Dr. F. Shakiba has been delivering lectures on Persian language and culture at the university since 2024. She holds a PhD and is a highly qualified specialist in ancient Iranian languages and culture. Fahimeh Shakiba earned her Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology in 2005–2009 (University of Tehran), her Master’s degree in Culture and Ancient Iranian Languages in 2009–2012 (University of Tehran), and her PhD in the same field in 2012–2016 (Research Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies).
Since 2017, she has been serving as an Associate Professor of Iranian Studies at Vali-e-Asr University in Rafsanjan, Kerman Province. In the 2024–2025 academic year, she completed Kazakh and Russian language courses at the preparatory faculty and conducted online courses titled “Editing Persian Texts” and “Advanced Skills in Persian Writing and Translation.” These online courses were organized to enhance the Persian language proficiency of university lecturers in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2025, together with R.K. Sadykova, she published a textbook entitled “Kazakh Language (A2 Level, Spoken Language)” intended for learners studying Kazakh, English, and Persian simultaneously. She also participated in scientific and methodological conferences held at the Faculties of Oriental Studies, Philosophy and Political Science, as well as the Preparatory Faculty of KazNU.
