Faculty Members of the Faculty of Oriental Studies Took Part in an International Round Table at ICESCO

On 29 December 2025, faculty members of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University participated in an international round table titled “Islamic Manuscripts in Kazakhstan: Present and Future”, held at the headquarters of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco.

Within the framework of the UN SDG initiative “Partnerships for Sustainable Development”, the participants presented scholarly reports on the current state of Islamic manuscripts in Kazakhstan. Special attention was given to the preservation, study, and academic circulation of Arabic, Persian, and Turkic manuscripts housed in the Manuscripts and Rare Books Collection of the Al-Farabi Library at KazNU.

The round table was attended by faculty members of the Department of the Middle East and South Asia: F. T. Zhumazhanova, A. Khavan, A. A. Mustafayeva, and F. Z. Mamedova.

The event was also honored by the presence of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Morocco, Saulekul Sailaukyzy, who extended her best wishes to the speakers and emphasized the importance of international academic cooperation.
