Events of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Forensics “Prevention and Counteraction of Fraud” within the framework of SDG 1 “Eradication of poverty in all its forms”
On December 16, 2025, a curatorial session “Prevention and Counteraction of Fraud” was held at the Almaty Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after Makan Yesbulatov. The session was organized by A.A. Bazilova, a lecturer of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Forensics, within the framework of SDG-1 “Eradication of poverty in all its forms.” The event was attended by: 1 academy staff member, 1 lecturer of the department, and 24 first-year students, with a total of 26 participants.
The speaker, Z.M. Surrapaeva, an employee of the MIA Academy, familiarized the students with the essence and characteristics of fraud, reviewed the most common fraudulent schemes, and explained practical measures for their prevention and counteraction within the activities of the internal affairs bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In an interactive format, students analyzed practical cases, studied the specifics of fraud qualification under criminal law, pre-trial investigation methods, liability for committed crimes, as well as modern forms of fraud: telephone and internet fraud, crimes in the field of electronic payments, and abuse of citizens’ trust.
The event contributed to increasing students’ financial and legal literacy, developing skills to recognize fraudulent schemes and act consciously in financial matters, and strengthening trust in the protective measures implemented by the internal affairs bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
