Customs Law and Sustainable Development: Training Competitive Specialists through Quality Education and the Improvement of Customs Control

On December 11, 2025, a large-scale event was held at the Faculty of Law of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, organized by the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law, within the framework of one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals - SDG 4. The event was entitled «Customs Law and Sustainable Development: Training Competitive Specialists through Quality Education and the Improvement of Customs Control».
The event was opened by the Head of the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law, Doctor of Law, Professor Guldanа Amangeldievna Kuanalieva, who in her opening remarks emphasized the importance of quality education, lifelong learning, and academic development, as well as the significance of training highly qualified specialists to ensure the effective implementation of the customs control system in modern society.
As an honored guest, Nurzhan Saulen, PhD, Head of the Research Center of the Institute of Parliamentarism under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was invited to the event. In his presentation, the guest speaker shared insightful and substantive views on the improvement of the education system, the advancement of scientific research, the implementation of lifelong learning principles, as well as current issues of legal regulation and institutional development in the field of customs control.
In addition, the academic staff of the department and students actively participated in the event, engaging in discussions and exchanging views on key issues related to education, professional training, and the development of practical skills in the fields of customs law and customs control. The event provided participants with a valuable opportunity for experience sharing and contributed to a deeper understanding of the importance of achieving sustainable development goals in education and enhancing the effectiveness of customs control.
