Preliminary defense of the doctoral thesis by Hamit Nurzhan Yerzhanyly in the framework of SDGs -9 and SDGS - 11
On January 23, 2026, at 14:00, at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the preliminary defense of the doctoral dissertation of Nurzhan Khamit was held within the framework of a scientific seminar on the Sustainable Development Goals SDG-9 “Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure” and SDG-11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities”. The dissertation is entitled: “Development of a Methodology for Studying the Geodynamic Processes of the Almaty Metro Using Aerospace and Geodetic Methods”, and was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) under the educational program 8D07302 – Geoinformatics. The defense was conducted in a hybrid format.

The dissertation focuses on the implementation of SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and is aimed at creating sustainable transport infrastructure. The use of modern geodetic and aerospace technologies allows monitoring the geodynamic state of tunnels and stations of the Almaty Metro, improving infrastructure reliability and operational safety.
Additionally, the study aligns with SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), contributing to the ecological and social balance of urbanization processes. This is achieved through systematic development of urban infrastructure, optimization of transport systems, and reduction of anthropogenic impacts on the environment.

During the preliminary defense, the candidate presented the main research results, substantiated the scientific novelty and practical significance of the work, and responded to questions from scientific consultants and reviewers. Following the discussion, the dissertation received a positive evaluation and was recommended for further defense, taking into account the comments and suggestions provided.
