The Winter School Organized by the Department of Sinology Has Successfully Concluded
On January 26, 2026, the Department of Sinology successfully concluded its Winter School program for students of Xiamen University (PRC). The course, held in an offline format, brought together more than 30 students and faculty members from China.
The program, titled “Crossroads of Cultures: Kazakhstan and China,” was designed in accordance with the academic interests and needs of Chinese students. Special emphasis was placed on the history, culture, and traditions of the Kazakh people, which generated considerable interest among international participants.
During the course, participants gained valuable insights into the role of the ancient Silk Road, the beliefs of the Kazakh people, national cuisine, traditional clothing, and folk games.
The Winter School successfully fulfilled its objectives by fostering an in-depth understanding of the cultural, historical, and social ties between Kazakhstan and China, strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between the youth of both countries, developing intercultural communication skills, enhancing the role of cultural diplomacy in the contemporary context, and establishing and expanding educational and academic cooperation with Chinese universities.
Students and faculty members of Xiamen University highly appreciated the high level of organization of the program and expressed their willingness to participate in similar initiatives in the future.
