Cooperation between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Is Developing
The Department of Far Eastern Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is consistently developing international cooperation with Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. This partnership was initiated by the signing of a memorandum of cooperation in September 2024 and has since resulted in tangible academic outcomes.
Within the framework of this collaboration, Professor Son Yoo Jong is currently serving as a visiting professor at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with the support of Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, contributing to the strengthening of educational and academic ties. In addition, first- and second-year students of the Department of Far Eastern Studies have been given the opportunity to participate in online Korean language courses.
One of the significant achievements of this international partnership is the planned publication in September 2025 of a four-level Korean language textbook developed by Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, translated into Kazakh with the support of the Korea Foundation. This project is expected to make a substantial contribution to the development of Korean studies in Kazakhstan and to the expansion of educational and methodological resources.
Starting today, students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University are participating in a five-day program of classes conducted by Korean language specialists from Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. These classes aim to enhance students’ Korean language proficiency while also developing their intercultural competence.
These initiatives contribute to strengthening international academic cooperation and lay a solid foundation for the implementation of future joint educational projects.
