Electoral rights and civicе engagement of students

    On January 27, 2026, in celebration of International Election Day, a meeting with students was held at the Faculty of Law of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on the topic “Electoral Principles as the Basis of Voter Trust.” The event was organized by Gulnar Tuleukhadirovna Aigarínova, professor of the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law and Chairperson of Polling Station № 259 at the KazNU campus.

   The meeting was attended by Sholpan Rysbekovna Kaliaskarova, Chairperson of the Bostandyk District Territorial Election Commission, as well as the administration of the Faculty of Law and representatives of the Student Legal Clinic. Among them were the dean of the Faculty of Law, candidate of law seances, professor Akhatov Valikhan Akypbekuly, Head of the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law, doctor of law, professor Kuanalieva Guldana Amangeldievna, director student law clinic, doctor of law, professor Baideldinov Daulet Laikovich.

    During the event, students were informed about the organization of the electoral process and its foundation on the principles of the rule of law, transparency, independence, inclusiveness, and professionalism of election commissions. Students who are exercising their voting rights for the first time expressed their willingness to actively participate in upcoming elections and referendums.

  The meeting was held in a question-and-answer and discussion format, enabling students to receive valuable information about their electoral rights and the mechanisms for exercising the right to a secret ballot.
