Scientific Seminar on Kazakhstan-China Cooperation in the Field of Electric Vehicles Held at the Department of Chinese Studies
On February 03, 2026, the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a scientific seminar on "China-Kazakhstan Cooperation in Electric Vehicles: Geopolitical and Energy Factors." The event was organized by the Department of Chinese Studies as part of the research work of Liu Xiyao, a third-year doctoral student in Oriental Studies(8D02209).
The seminar brought together professors, doctoral students, master's students, and all those interested in Kazakhstan-China cooperation. Participants discussed the current state of the electric vehicle market in Kazakhstan, the impact of geopolitical factors on cooperation between the two countries, and ways to address this issue.
Doctoral student Liu Xiyao presented the results of her research, focusing on the impact of energy and geopolitical factors on cooperation in the electric vehicle sector. In her presentation, she noted that the world is currently experiencing a period of global energy transition and geopolitical restructuring, and that Kazakhstan's unique geographic location and energy advantages are crucial for promoting industrial development. Doctoral student Liu Xiyao also analyzed the key challenges facing cooperation between the two countries in the field of electric vehicles and proposed possible solutions.
As a result of the seminar, participants recognized the need for further research in this area. It was decided to organize a series of roundtable discussions dedicated to specific aspects of Kazakhstan-China cooperation in the field of electric vehicles.
