On February 11, 2026, a curated event on "The Role of Women in the Development of Science and Innovation" was held for first-year students of the 6B05105-Genetics program, as part of the implementation of UN SDG-4 "Quality Education" and UN SDG-5 "Gender Equality."
The event was organized by A.I. Zhusupova, Associate Professor of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. The meeting explored the contributions of outstanding women researchers to the development of the natural sciences, including Rosalind Franklin, Barbara McClintock, Jane Goodall, Nadezhda Lvovna Udolskaya, and Jennifer Daudna, whose discoveries have had a significant impact on the development of genetics, molecular biology, and biomedicine.
Particular attention was paid to the challenges of the 21st century for women in science, including ensuring equal access to scientific resources, overcoming gender stereotypes, and increasing women's participation in addressing global sustainable development challenges. The event helped to increase students' interest in scientific activity and develop an understanding of the importance of gender equality as a key factor in the development of modern science.
