Referendum on the Draft New Constitution: A Democratic Form of Decision-Making by the People of the Republic of Kazakhstan

On February 13, 2026, a round table discussion entitled “Referendum on the Draft New Constitution: A Democratic Form of Decision-Making by the People of the Republic of Kazakhstan” was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The event addressed the significance of constitutional reforms, the rule of law, and mechanisms for citizen participation in public administration.

Guldana Amangeldiyevna Kuanaliyeva, Doctor of Law and Professor, Head of the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law, highlighted the role of reforms in modernizing the legal system. Acting Associate Professor of the same department, PhD Gulnur Koyshynkyzy Rasheva, discussed the implementation of the principles of a social state and the strengthening of human rights guarantees.

Faculty members of the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law of the Faculty of Law actively participated in the discussion and presented their proposals.

At the conclusion of the round table, participants emphasized that the constitutional amendments would have a positive impact on the country’s democratic development.
