On 17 February 2026, the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Forensics of the Faculty of Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a roundtable discussion titled “AI and Financial Fraud: How Not to Become a Victim?”.

The event aimed to address emerging risks associated with the rapid development of artificial intelligence and to promote financial and digital literacy, particularly among young people.

During the roundtable, participants discussed current forms of financial fraud, including AI-enabled schemes, phishing, fake calls and messages, as well as practical approaches to protecting personal data and ensuring safe online behavior. Special attention was given to prevention strategies and real-life recommendations.

At the conclusion of the discussion, participants highlighted the importance of ongoing awareness-raising initiatives and strengthening information security culture.
