NEW MONOGRAPH PRESENTED AT THE FACULTY Of ORiENTAL STUDIES

On February 20, 2026, the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the presentation of the monograph “Medieval Iran: Archeography and Sources (13th–18th centuries)” by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor-Researcher G.A. Kambarbekova. The event was organized by the Department of the Middle East and South Asia within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 — “Quality Education.”

The purpose of the event is to present research on centuries-old Persian-language sources and to highlight their significance for studying the history of Kazakhstan.

During the presentation, prominent national scholars — Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor A.K. Muminov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor B.B. Karibayev, and Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor-Researcher L.G. Yerekeshova — highlighted the scientific value of the work. In addition, Hossein Aghazadeh, Head of the Iranian Cultural Center in Almaty, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor K.Sh. Khafizova, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan M.K. Abuseitova, and Doctor of Historical Sciences Zh. Oshan expressed their congratulations and highly praised the author’s scholarly contribution.

As part of the event, the author presented a slideshow outlining the content of the monograph and its main research findings. The monograph comprehensively examines issues related to the identification, cataloguing, classification, preservation, translation, and scholarly study of Persian manuscripts. The analysis of sources from the 13th to the 18th centuries highlights their historical significance. The extensive inclusion of valuable data related to the history of Kazakhstan enhances the academic importance of the work.

The presentation was held in a hybrid format (offline and online) with the participation of faculty members, master’s and doctoral students.
