An Open Lesson on “Chinese Language: Practical Listening” Held at the Department of Chinese Studies
On February 19, 2026, an open lesson was held at the Department of Chinese Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies as part of the teaching practice of Dankey Baknar, a first-year doctoral student of the “Translation Studies” educational program.
The open lesson was conducted for second-year students of the “Translation Studies” educational program in the course “Chinese Language: Practical Listening.” During the class, active interaction with students was established, and listening materials were thoroughly analyzed. The meanings of new vocabulary items and language units were explained, and tasks were completed in accordance with the course syllabus. Particular attention was paid to developing students’ listening comprehension skills.
To enhance the effectiveness of the lesson, a slide presentation was used, and interactive tasks as well as group work were effectively organized. These methods contributed to students’ active engagement and better assimilation of the learning material.
The open lesson was attended by the Head of the Department of Chinese Studies and faculty members, who positively evaluated the content and delivery of the lesson and provided methodological recommendations.
The event became an important step in strengthening the doctoral student’s pedagogical skills and promoting the effective implementation of modern teaching methods in the educational process.
