Working Meeting on Sustainable Development and Innovative Environmental Technologies
On 02/24/2026, representatives of the UNESCO Department of Sustainable Development of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences held a working meeting with the management of KazNU Scientific and Technological Park LLP at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The meeting was attended by the Head of the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Professor T.A. Bazarbayeva, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor G.A. Mukanova, and Director of the LLP “Science and Technology Park” M.A. Sarsenbayev. Specialists from the Artificial Intelligence Center also took part in the discussion. 
During the meeting, participants discussed перспективные scientific developments of the technopark, issues of technology commercialization, and prospects for joint research initiatives. Special attention was given to environmental challenges related to oil-contaminated soils in the West Kazakhstan region and to the implementation of innovative solutions for land reclamation and environmental protection. The technopark presented the project “Testing of a Device for Cleaning Oilfield Equipment from Asphaltene-Resin-Paraffin Deposits (ARPD)”, aimed at improving the efficiency of equipment cleaning and reducing technogenic environmental impact. As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop cooperation and conduct joint scientific research focused on sustainable development, environmental safety, and the introduction of high-tech solutions in the oil and gas sector.
