On February 26, 2026, an event “What Do You Know About the UN and the 17 SDGs?” was held at the Community Center located at 22k1 Baitursynov Street, Almaty, for external participants. The event was dedicated to the accession of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations and was organized by the Academic regional resource center for information support about the UN at the Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi KazNU.

The event consisted of a presentation on the Center’s activities, an intellectual quiz, and an interactive session. The program opened with welcoming remarks from the Center’s team, followed by a brief overview delivered by the Director of the Center, Leyla Fedorovna Delovarova, who presented the Center’s main areas of work, its key initiatives, and the significance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals for Kazakhstan. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of youth participation in promoting UN values and implementing the 17 SDGs at the national level.

After watching a video about the activities of the United Nations and the Center, the main stage of the program - the intellectual quiz - took place. At the beginning of the quiz, participants were divided into three teams consisting of students from various schools and universities. The questions covered the history of the establishment of the United Nations, its structure, principal organs and agencies, as well as the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The event engaged more than 30 participants, including school and university students from Almaty. The team-based format encouraged active interaction and knowledge exchange. During the discussion session, participants had the opportunity to ask questions about the Center’s activities, its projects, and possibilities for further involvement.

The program concluded with an interactive activity: participants wrote their wishes and reflections related to the UN’s activities and the implementation of the SDGs on a shared poster and left a colored fingerprint as a symbol of personal engagement. The event ended with a group photo.

The event was held in an active and informative atmosphere, contributing to increased awareness among external participants about Kazakhstan’s role in the United Nations and the importance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
