“Second Life”: Initiative for the Restoration of Outdated Geographical Atlases
The Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences, the UNESCO Department of Sustainable Development in 28.02.2026 held an environmental campaign "New Life," aimed at extending the life of educational materials and creating a culture of respect for resources.
As part of the initiative, teachers and students restored atlases and teaching aids that are actively used in the educational process. Covers were restored, bindings were strengthened, damaged pages were updated and materials were systematized for further use in classrooms.
The action became a practical example of the implementation of the principles of a circular economy and responsible consumption, contributing to the reduction of paper waste and the rational use of educational resources.
The event also reflects the faculty's contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 4 Quality Education.
Conducting such initiatives forms students' environmental thinking, social responsibility and practical skills in sustainable resource management.
