Professional Guidelines for Young Researchers
On March 3, 2026, a scientific seminar entitled “Organizing and Planning the First Research Project” was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of Oriental Studies, organized by the Council of Young Scholars of the Department of Middle Eastern and South Asian Studies. The event aimed to provide young researchers with structured guidance on initiating research work, effectively planning their studies, and developing professionally within the academic community.
The keynote speaker was Associate Professor and researcher of the department, Editor-in-Chief of the scientific Journal of Oriental Studies – Anar Mustafayeva. In her presentation, she thoroughly outlined the prerequisites and stages of organizing a first research project, from selecting a topic and defining a research problem to presenting and structuring scientific results.
Dr. Mustafayeva emphasized the importance of clearly defining the research problem, setting precise objectives and tasks, working systematically with academic sources, and maintaining proper scientific structure. She also provided professional advice on academic integrity, time management, and effective scientific communication.
During the seminar, participants actively engaged in discussion and asked questions. Particular interest was shown in publishing articles in journals indexed in the Scopus database. The speaker shared her practical experience in preparing manuscripts for international journals, selecting appropriate publications, understanding the peer-review process, and ensuring author responsibility.
The seminar became an important platform for the professional development of young scholars and gave new momentum to their research activities.
