Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism at KazNU Hosts Dual Education Seminar
March 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at Faculty Geography and Environmental Sciences hosted a seminar-training entitled "Opportunities for Implementing Dual Education at the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism."
The event was led by speakers Zh.N. Aliyeva and R.M. Baiburiyev, experts in tourism and geography who are actively engaged in the modernization of higher education processes.

During the seminar, participants discussed the relevance and organizational specifics of dual education within the framework of Kazakhstan's higher education system. It was emphasized that this model combines academic study at the university with hands-on professional practice at real enterprises – ensuring that graduates enter the labor market with both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies.
Special attention was given to the Hospitality field, which was recognized as ideally suited for the dual education format. Hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, and event companies are ready to integrate students into live work environments, providing experience that goes far beyond the classroom.

The discussion also highlighted the direct connection between dual education and the UN Sustainable Development Goals – particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). Training industry-ready graduates contributes to reducing youth unemployment, increasing productivity in the tourism sector, and fostering the sustainable development of Kazakhstan's service economy.
Participants unanimously supported the idea of launching pilot dual education programs at the department and outlined next steps for collaboration with industry partners.
