On Saturday, students from the University of Tokyo, who are currently in Kazakhstan as part of an academic exchange program, visited Charyn Canyon, one of the most famous natural landmarks in the Almaty region.

During the trip to the canyon, the students were impressed by the vast Kazakh steppe. Along the way, they admired the wide open landscapes and the beautiful mountain views. Many of the students were surprised by how endless the steppe looked and found the scenery very impressive.

After arriving at Charyn Canyon, the students explored one of its most famous areas — the Valley of Castles. This part of the canyon is known for its unique rock formations that resemble ancient castles.

While walking through the canyon, the students asked many questions about the history of Charyn Canyon and how it was formed. They were interested in learning about the geological history of the canyon and its importance as one of Kazakhstan’s natural landmarks.

The students enjoyed the breathtaking scenery and took many photographs during the excursion. The scale and beauty of the canyon left a strong impression on them.

Such trips allow international students to better understand the natural environment of Kazakhstan and help strengthen cultural exchange between Kazakhstan and Japan.
