KazNU held roundtable discussion in support of the new Constitution
On March 16, 2026, a roundtable discussion titled "New Constitution - New Fair Kazakhstan - New Opportunities for Democratic Development" was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Faculty deans, faculty, and students from various departments of the university participated in the roundtable. The roundtable focused on analyzing the results of the national referendum held on March 15 to adopt a new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. E.E. Duisenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board and First Vice-Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Doctor of Law, and Professor, delivered the opening remarks. He outlined the key innovations of the Constitution adopted by referendum. He focused on strengthening the mechanism for protecting human and civil rights and freedoms in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In his speech, U.A. Akhatov, Dean of the Faculty of Law, also addressed the discussion. The importance of the 2026 constitutional reform for the development of Kazakhstan's statehood, civil society, and the well-being of all Kazakhstanis was emphasized.
K.R. Useinova, Head of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, emphasized in her report that the constitutional reform marked the beginning of the improvement of the country's constitutional and legal legislation, and that the adoption of the country's new Constitution marks the beginning of a major reform of all national legislation.
A.S. Ibrayeva, Doctor of Law, Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, focused the audience's attention on addressing human and civil rights issues in the Republic of Kazakhstan based on the new Constitution.
D.M. Baimakhanova, Doctor of Law, Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, emphasized that the referendum held in the Republic to adopt the new Constitution is a plebiscite, i.e., a referendum held on the most important issues for the country. The speakers then congratulated everyone on the adoption of the new Constitution and emphasized its importance for the further development of constitutionalism in Kazakhstan. Students participating in the roundtable asked the speakers numerous questions and actively participated in the discussion.
