Roundtable discussion on "Ethical Leadership and Anti-Corruption Culture in Healthcare"

9 december, 2025

A roundtable discussion on "Ethical Leadership and Anti-Corruption Culture in Healthcare" was held at the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Moderators included B.N. Maulenova, PhD in Law and Associate Professor of the Department of Healthcare Policy and Organization, and A.G. Kenembaeva, a first-year master's student majoring in Healthcare Law. The event brought together students and faculty for an open dialogue about the challenges facing the modern healthcare system and the role of young professionals in shaping a society with high standards of professional ethics.

The meeting was a logical continuation of a series of events dedicated to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 16, which emphasizes the creation of effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions. Roundtable participants focused on the practical aspects of this global agenda—how the principles of good governance and ethics are implemented in the daily practice of physicians and healthcare administrators.

Such discussions help students understand the high social responsibility of the medical profession. The healthcare of the future is not only about new technologies and medications; it is, above all, about a high level of trust between society and healthcare professionals. And this level directly depends on the strength of the ethical principles instilled in young professionals today. The roundtable confirmed the readiness of our university's student community not only to master professional competencies but also to actively participate in building a fair and just healthcare system.
