A Girl is the Conscience of the Nation and the Face of the People
On March 17, 2026, lecturers of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature, Sanyarova N.S. and Kaiyrbek M.N., together with first-year students majoring in Ecology and Biology, held an event titled “A Girl is the Conscience of the Nation and the Face of the People.” The event was organized within the framework of the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal No. 5 – “Gender Equality.”
The purpose of the event was to discuss the role of women in Kazakh society and their importance in preserving traditions and developing modern society. The moderator noted that the image of the Kazakh woman has been formed over centuries and has always occupied a special place in the life of the people. A woman has traditionally been the keeper of the family hearth, the educator of children, a wise advisor, and a respected member of society.
During the event, students presented short reports about outstanding women of Kazakhstan: Tomiris, Domalak Ana, Hiuaz Dospanova, Fariza Ongarsynova, and Saltanat Baikoshkarova. Their life stories became examples of strength of spirit, wisdom, and devotion to their people.
Special attention was paid to the role of women in modern Kazakhstan. Today, women actively demonstrate themselves in various fields — science, education, entrepreneurship, and public and governmental activities. The modern girl strives for education, professional growth, and self-realization, while maintaining respect for national traditions and family values.
The interactive part of the event was held in the format of a group discussion. Students reflected on whether the role of women has changed over the past decades, whether it is possible to combine traditional values with a career, and what qualities are important for a modern girl. The participants concluded that education, responsibility, respect for traditions, and a desire for development are especially important today.
At the end of the event, students named associations that arise with the image of a Kazakh woman: wisdom, patience, strength, care, dignity, and education.
Summing up the discussion, the lecturers emphasized that the role of women in Kazakh society has always been significant. Today, women are active participants in all spheres of life while preserving the spiritual and cultural values of the nation.
The event became a platform for open dialogue between students and lecturers and contributed to the formation of a respectful attitude toward the role of women in society.
