Promotion of Family Values and National Traditions

This year, the “Parasat” Trade Union of employees of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held the “Shanyraq Day” in the format of a round table titled “Strong Family – Strong State,” dedicated to the national family values of the Kazakh people. The main goal of the event was to strengthen the institution of the family, foster responsibility and unity among youth, preserve cultural heritage, and promote national family values. A total of 55 family couples working at the university were invited to participate in the round table.

During the preparation of the event, the Chairman of the “Parasat” Trade Union, T.K. Mekebaev, emphasized that the family is the most important value in a person’s life. He noted that family members are the closest people whom we love, admire, care for, and always wish happiness and well-being.

The moderator of the meeting, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bereket Karibaev, congratulated the participants and highlighted the strategic importance of the family institution for the state. In his speech, he stated: “The family is the foundation of society and the guardian of traditions and values. Such meetings remind us of the importance of mutual understanding, respect, and support within the family.”

During the event, representatives of different generations shared their life experiences. Special attention was given to Kazakh national traditions, including the concept of “zher ustel,” which symbolizes unity and harmony. Participants discussed respect for elders, mutual respect within the family, the role of a woman as the keeper of the hearth, and the role of a man as the pillar of the family.

Representatives of the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics also took part in the event. In particular, the Head of the Department, Syrym Erkinovich Kasenov, together with his spouse, Senior Lecturer Aigerim Mekemtasovna Tleulesova, as well as Senior Lecturer Rashid Kerimbaev with his spouse, Professor of the Faculty of Geography Lazat Spankulova, attended the round table. Meanwhile, representatives from other faculties, whose family life spans 52, 44, 34, and 14 years, shared their experiences, emphasizing that mutual respect, understanding, and support are the foundation of a strong family.

Participants noted that such meetings not only strengthen the spiritual unity within the academic community but also serve as an example for the younger generation. The importance of preserving national traditions and cultural continuity was also widely discussed.

In conclusion, Bereket Karibaev expressed his gratitude to the participants for their meaningful contributions and presented commemorative gifts to each family. Such meaningful events undoubtedly play an important role in strengthening unity within the university community and promoting national values.
