OPEN DAY AT THE ORIENTAL STUDIES FACULTY: A Step Toward an Informed Choice of Your Future Career

26 march, 2026

On March 26, 2026, the Far Eastern Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi KazNU held an Open Day aimed at promoting the faculty's educational programs, attracting prospective students, and providing career guidance to school students in choosing their future profession. The event generated considerable interest: approximately 150 schoolchildren from Almaty and the Almaty region participated.

The guests had a unique opportunity to become acquainted with the department's educational environment, learn about the prospects for studying the Korean language, culture, and intercultural communication, and ask questions of interest to faculty and students.

Of particular interest were information about scholarship programs and academic mobility opportunities in collaboration with leading universities in the Republic of Korea. Third-year students majoring in Oriental Studies, Muratbek Ayda, Omirbek Raziya, Sagyn Aykumis, Sametkan Togzhan, and Talgat Aruzhan, played a significant role in organizing and running the event. Under the guidance of senior lecturer Z.A. Serikbayeva, they prepared a rich, interactive program. The students prepared the traditional Korean dish tteokbokki, served drinks to guests, and held interactive sessions with prizes. This format allowed participants not only to gain useful information but also to experience the atmosphere of student life.

The event was sponsored by VCA LLC, which provided its products. During the tasting, guests were able to sample popular Korean products, which proved to be one of the most vibrant and memorable elements of the program.

The creative portion of the program included vibrant student performances: a traditional fan dance, vocal numbers, and other stage performances. These elements showcased not only the academic but also the cultural opportunities offered by the department.

The Open Day was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Participants noted the program's high level of organization, its informative nature, and the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge for making an informed choice of their future profession.

The Department of Far Eastern Studies expresses its gratitude to all participants, organizers, and the event's sponsor, Dina Muratovna Shamshidinova, Director of VCALLC, and hopes to see today's schoolchildren among its future students.
