12 march, 2026

On March 12 in accordance with SDG 5, under the supervision of the lecturer of the Department of Kazakh Literature and Literary Theory, Doctor of Philology, Professor Omirkhan Abdimanuly, and Doctor of Philology Gulzhan Zhambulktzy Bolatyova, , first-year doctoral student of the “Kazakh Language and Literature” program, Abdyramanova Perizat, conducted an open educational session in the form of a debate on the topic “Gender Equality: The Value of Women.”The main objective of the debate was to provide students with a deep understanding of the concept of gender equality, to foster respect for the role and value of women in society, and to promote equal rights and opportunities for women. In addition, it aimed to develop students’ critical thinking skills, teach them to express their viewpoints in a well-reasoned manner, and promote a culture of gender awareness.During the debate, students discussed societal stereotypes, analyzed the social, cultural, and spiritual roles of women, and were encouraged to uphold the principles of equality and justice. The discussion was organized at a high level, with two teams — the Government and the Opposition — engaging in a dynamic and substantive exchange of ideas. Each team consisted of three speakers who defended their positions using convincing arguments and real-life examples.

Participants thoroughly examined the role of women in society, family, and professional life, clearly demonstrating the relevance of gender equality issues. Their arguments were supported by legal frameworks, statistical data, and concrete social examples.

By comparing global experience and current societal changes, participants noted that although women’s opportunities in education, employment, and self-development have expanded, there are still issues that require further resolution.

The debate was lively and engaging. Students freely expressed their ideas and critically responded to opposing arguments. Each speaker delivered well-structured, logical, and persuasive speeches, reflecting a high level of preparation. At the conclusion of the debate, participants reached a common understanding that the role of women in society is not limited to the family sphere, and that their development as educated professionals and active citizens is of great importance. It was also emphasized that gender equality is not only a women’s issue but a key value influencing the development of society as a whole. The open educational session was attended by the course supervisor Өмірхан Әбдиманұлы and the pedagogical practice supervisor Гүлжан Жамбылқызы Болатова, who shared their feedback at the end of the debate. They highly appreciated the students’ activity and level of thinking, emphasizing the importance of such events in training future specialists.

In conclusion, such debate-based educational activities not only enhance students’ public speaking skills but also develop their critical thinking, argumentation, and ability to defend their viewpoints. Moreover, they contribute to shaping socially responsible and active citizens among young people.
