The Faculty of Oriental Studies Held a Student Discussion on Equal Opportunities in Higher Education Systems

On March 27, 2026, a scientific and educational seminar titled “Equal Opportunities in Higher Education Systems: A Comparative Study of Korea and Japan” was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies. The event was organized for students to provide an in-depth analysis of approaches to ensuring equal access to higher education in East Asian countries.

The seminar was conducted by Abagan A.B., Head of the Department of Far Eastern Studies, who presented a comparative overview of the higher education systems of the Republic of Korea and Japan. The presentation highlighted key mechanisms of public policy aimed at expanding educational opportunities, including scholarship systems, student support measures, and initiatives to reduce educational inequality. Particular attention was paid to institutional and cultural factors influencing access to quality education.

During the discussion, students actively participated, shared their perspectives, and explored the applicability of international experience in the context of Kazakhstan.
