26 march, 2026

On March 26, 2026, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the closing ceremony of the Winter School, where certificates were presented to all participants.

As part of the program, students from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Kyoto University studied Kazakh and Russian languages from March 4 to March 27, 2026. They also explored Kazakhstan’s scenic landmarks and experienced the country’s rich cultural heritage.

During the ceremony, participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their achievements, which were highly praised by the organizers. A highlight of the evening was a Japanese student performing Abai Kunanbayev’s creation  “Kozimnin Karasy” in Kazakh language, leaving a strong impression on the audience.

Following the certificate presentation, first-year students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies organized a farewell evening for the Winter School participants. The event featured a small concert where guests got to experience Kazakh culture more closely: Japanese students listened to the traditional kyui “Balbyrauyn,” played the national game asyk, and felt the unique spirit of Kazakh traditions, leaving the event in high spirits.

The evening concluded with a warm gathering around a traditional tea table, fostering a friendly atmosphere among the youth and serving as a vivid example of cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
