KazNU has opened a laboratory of green chemical engineering

The Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi hosted the opening ceremony of the Kazakh-Chinese joint Laboratory of Green Chemical Engineering KazNU–SHZU, established jointly with the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Shihezi University (PRC).

A significant event was preceded by a meeting of the delegation Shihezi University, headed by the Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Liu Jichang with the leadership of KazNU and the signing of an agreement on the establishment of a joint laboratory for green chemical engineering.

Honorary guests were welcomed by Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board, Vice–Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activities. In his speech, he noted the importance of an important step in the development of scientific and educational partnership between universities of the two countries.

"KazNU has been consistently strengthening ties with leading universities and scientific organizations in China for many years. This experience shows that cooperation between Kazakhstan and China is based on real scientific projects, knowledge exchange, training of young researchers and joint search for solutions to modern challenges. The signing of the agreement with Shihezi University opens up new opportunities for us and will be another important contribution to strengthening friendship between our countries",- the Vice–rector emphasized..

The signed agreement defined the directions for further development of mutually beneficial partnership between the parties, including the implementation of joint research projects in the field of green chemistry and chemical engineering, the organization of academic mobility of teachers, scientists and young researchers, international scientific conferences, seminars and workshops, the publication of scientific articles and obtaining joint patents.

The opening ceremony of the Laboratory of green Chemical Engineering, located at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of KazNU, was attended by representatives of the university administration, members of the delegation Shihezi University, scientists and laboratory staff.

Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board, Vice–Rector for Science and Innovation, Alina Galeyeva, Member of the Board, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Mukhambetkali Burkitbayev, congratulated those present on the significant event. Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Liu Jichang thanked the management of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for the fruitful partnership, which resulted in the creation of a well-equipped, modern laboratory.

The main activities of the laboratory are: research in the field of green catalysis and sustainable chemical processes, processing and integrated use of biomass, development of environmentally friendly methods for the synthesis of fine chemical and pharmaceutical substances, technologies for environmental purification, creation of new green materials, as well as transportation and processing of hydrocarbon raw materials.

The opening of the joint laboratory has become an important stage in the development of the strategic partnership between KazNU and Shihezi University. The implementation of this project will contribute to the development of advanced research in the field of green chemical engineering and the expansion of international scientific cooperation.
