The I Forum of specialists in the field of international relations "Modern International Relations and Diplomacy: the Role and Place of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Within the framework of the forum, the Faculty of International Relations hosted the opening ceremony of the "Hall of Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and the "Expert Center". An exhibition of books and photographs dedicated to Kazakhstan's foreign policy and diplomacy was also organized.

The purpose of the event is to discuss the multi–vector foreign policy of Kazakhstan in the era of geopolitical changes in the world, identify priority areas of national diplomacy and analyze the main trends in international relations. 

The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan, expert of the military–political dimension of the CICA Dulat Kuanyshev, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Kazakhstan Kestutis Jankauskas, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty Islambek Raimov, representative of the UN Department of Global Communications in Almaty Almaty Vlastimil Samek, academician of the National Engineering Academy Sabden Orazaly, diplomats, representatives of foreign countries, experts, faculty and students of the university.

Opening the forum, Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted the importance of the event: “Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at a meeting of the Council on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia said: "Today we live in conditions of unprecedented geopolitical tension and a growing crisis in the global economy. A particularly important task facing us is to achieve stability in international relations in the face of emerging threats.” At today's meeting, we will analyze these issues more broadly. I would like to emphasize that KazNU is the first "forge" of training specialists in the field of diplomacy. At the Faculty of International Relations of the educational institution, a world-class diplomat, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held diplomatic master classes and gave lectures. The University will continue to train high–quality specialists and develop science and education in accordance with modern requirements”.

During the event, the participants made presentations: Dulat Kuanyshev, Kastutis Jankauskas, Islambek Rakhimov, Sabden Orazaly, Vlastimil Samek, etc.

"Kazakhstan's diplomacy is known all over the world for its peacekeeping initiatives. The merit of domestic diplomacy is great in strengthening the international status of Kazakhstan. Today Kazakhstan has established foreign relations with many countries of the world and has become a member of all reputable international organizations," Kestutis Jankauskas announced.
