KazNU and Shenzhen University jointly develop medical education
The Treasury of the Name Al-Farabi was visited by a delegation from China headed by the Executive Director of the School of Medicine of Shenzhen University, Professor Xingji Xu (Javier). The guests visited the museum KazNU, the Center for Situational Management (CSM), and the laboratories of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology.
The guests were received by Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev, who spoke about the activities of the University and its cooperation with universities, institutes of the People's Republic of China in various fields.
KazNU maintains close relations with fifty higher educational institutions and organizations in the People's Republic of China. Over the past three years, 79 students from KazNU have completed scientific internships and participated in summer schools at Chinese universities, as have 37 teaching staff who visited China for internships and seminars.
Today, 401 Chinese students are studying at KazNU, among them 168 under the state educational grant and 233 under the contract. The university has a Department of Chinese Studies and the Confucius Institute. It should be noted that during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Xi'an on May 18–19, 2023, agreements on mutual understanding with Shenzhen University were signed. The Rector of the university stressed that after the signed memorandum with Shenzhen University and KazNU, the next stage of cooperation will be joint research in the fields of biology and biotechnology. The head of the university spoke about the activities of the faculties of medicine and healthcare, biology, and biotechnology at KazNU. During the negotiations, the parties discussed the main branches of university research and current projects between the country's leading university and Chinese partners, etc.
In turn, the executive director of the Shenzhen University School of Medicine, Professor Xingji Xu, thanked the university administration for the warm welcome and informed them about the scientific and educational activities of the university. During the meeting, the ceremony of awarding the title of Honorary Professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to Mr. Sinji Xu (Javier) took place.
At the end of the meeting, representatives of the delegation of the People's Republic of China handed 21 students of KazNU scholarships for internships in the framework of the summer school program at the Medical School of Shenzhen University.
