KAZAKHSTAN LEGAL FORUM 2023 (KLF 2023)

       On September 28-29, the 13th Kazakhstan Legal Forum 2023 (KLF2023) was held in Almaty, Rixos Almaty. This event included 4 parallel sections: Market regulation and trends; Corporate law and M&A; Digital Law; Dispute resolution. More than 400 (four hundred) lawyers and 80 speakers took part in the Forum.

        KLF2023 adhered to the main goal - to create the best platform in Central Asia for lawyers to exchange experiences, network, discuss problems and solutions with leading industry experts and representatives of the public sector.

       As part of this event, a separate section is planned - “Legal Education”, among the speakers of which is Doctor of Legal Sciences Zabikh Sh.A. Sholpan Arapbaykyzy shared her practical experience in the field of jurisprudence and teaching. She focused on such an important question: what kind of lawyers do employers want to see? According to her, employers do not have time to train lawyers in practical skills; they want to see an employee ready to work in the company with good theoretical and practical knowledge. Therefore, when preparing future lawyers in universities, it is necessary to focus on solving cases/problems based on practice. There was a need to “build a bridge between theory and practice.” Also, among the important issues of training legal personnel for the Kazakh market, the following are considered: training in legal thinking at universities; features of law schools at American universities and others.

       Kazakhstan Legal Forum is the leading legal forum in Kazakhstan, held for more than 10 years by the Lincoln Company team. At the KLF2023 Forum, such current topics as today were discussed: “The Constitutional Court: problems and prospects”, “Development of the legal profession”, “Mergers and acquisitions of companies: the main stages of the transaction”, “Global trends in private mergers and acquisitions ( M&A)”, “Is it necessary to protect the legal market of Kazakhstan from foreign lawyers?”, “The impact of sanctions regulation on M&A transactions”, “Crypto & Blockchain Law”, “Data Privacy Law”, “Latest practice of the Code of Civil Procedure, what’s new?”, “ Online platforms Law”, “AIFC Law and English Law in Kazakhstan: analysis of practical cases”, “Digital law education”, “Criminal legal protection of business”, “The role of in-house lawyers in international arbitration” and others.

       The co-organizers of the KLF2023 Forum were large law firms Sayat Zholshy & Partners, Tukulov & Kassilgov Litigation, Signum, ELDWICK, Artyshenko&Partners, Shaikenov&experts, Pactum lecal partners, Legal Management, KazBar and others.

        As part of KLF2023, the 7th award “Best Legal Departments of Kazakhstan” and legal master classes on Legal Skills, LegalTech, Self Skills, and creative master classes were held. Working languages are Russian, Kazakh and some sessions were held in English with simultaneous translation.
