
On October 20, 2023, at the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminology, Faculty of Law, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, a round table was as part of the implementation of the sustainable development goal SDG No. 13 “Taking urgent measures to combat climate change and its consequences.”
The round table was attended by moderators: head of the department of criminal law, criminal procedure and criminology, doctor of legal sciences, professor Dzhansaraeva R.E., senior lecturer of the department Shopabaev B.A., speakers: acting. Director of the Institute of Forensic Expertise for the Almaty region, chief expert on forensic environmental research Aliturliev A.S., Ph.D., c.l.s., senior lecturer of the department Temirbolat N.S., associate professor of the department Dr. PhD Aratuly K.A., students of the Faculty of Law.
The round table discussed the causes of climate change and the impact of its consequences on the environment and human health. Changing temperatures, rising sea levels, periods of extreme heat in winter or cold in summer, heat waves, weeks of heavy rain, droughts and fires, floods, extinction of plant and animal species are just some of the effects of climate change. It affects almost all aspects of human life - farming, economics, health. This problem will affect everyone from the small farmer to the businessman, but especially the poor and vulnerable, as well as women, children and the elderly.
