"Prevention of gender-motivated violence"

On October 26, 2023, a round table was held organized by the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics. The event was dedicated to the topical topic – "Prevention of gender-motivated violence". The speakers were senior lecturer of the department Suraeva K.S. and second-year doctoral student of the Almaty Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after M.Esbulatov - police captain Abikenov A.N.

The main purpose of the event was to discuss effective strategies and measures for the prevention of gender-based violence in Kazakhstan. In addition, issues of ensuring gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls in accordance with the UN SDG No. 5 were discussed.

In her report, Surayeva K.S. presented a comprehensive analysis of gender-motivated violence, including its various forms, features and causes. The Speaker also proposed specific measures and strategies aimed at preventing this phenomenon and stressed the importance of education and information campaigns in this area.

Speaker Abikenov A.N. presented a report on the topic "Domestic crime: parties to the conflict, causes, responsibility", in which he shed light on aspects of domestic crime, examined various sides of the conflict, identified the causes and suggested approaches to its prevention.

The round table became a platform for the exchange of experience and ideas between the participants. During the discussion, constructive proposals arose to improve existing programs and initiatives in the field of prevention of gender-motivated violence.

The participants expressed unanimous support for the need to further develop and strengthen women's rights in Kazakhstan, and also stressed the importance of education and promotion of knowledge in this area. In addition, important practical steps for the effective implementation of the proposed strategies for the prevention of gender-motivated violence in real conditions were discussed.
