Prevention of the spread of religious extremism and the involvement of young people in destructive trends in Islam
On November 2, 2023 at 15:00 at the Faculty of Law of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University within the framework of SDG 16 "Peace, Justice and effective institutions" by the teachers of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, D.M. Baymakhanova and D.O. Kusainova, a lecture was organized for 3rd year students: "Prevention of the spread of religious extremism and the involvement of young people in destructive trends in Islam". The lecture was delivered by Nurlan Maulenkulovich Zharymbekov, Naib Imam of the D.A. Kunayev mosque.
Revealing the topic of the lecture, the speaker at the beginning spoke about what religion is, what are the main world religions, how they arose, noting that Islam is the youngest world religion. Further, the lecturer revealed the main stages of the formation and development of Islam in world history. Special attention was paid to the activities of famous Arab scholars who developed and interpreted the main provisions of the Islamic religion.
Further, the lecturer focused on the emergence of such trends in Islam as Wahabism and Salafism, explaining their specifics and harm to the development of traditional Islam. The speaker noted the importance of understanding the harm of Wahabism as an ideology for Islam and explained to the students what should be done to prevent the involvement of young people and students in the number of Wahabis.
The students listened to the lecture with great interest, asked questions and noted the importance of preventive work to prevent the involvement of young people in destructive trends in Islam. Such lectures are of great interest for the formation of a clear civil and ideological position among future law enforcement officers.
