«Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls»

On November 04, 2023 an event dedicated to SDG 5: «Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls» took place at the Higher School of Medicine of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The Round Table was organized by the professors of the Department of Foreign Languages A. A. Abdizhappar and F. M. Mukazhanova with the participation of the students, 1st year undergraduates and graduate students majoring in «General Medicine» (English department) of the Higher School of Medicine.

In addition to the students, the professors of the Department of Foreign Languages took an active part in the event, as well as a number of special guests, both students and professors from Kazakhstan and abroad. In addition to the eight presentations done by the «General Medicine» students at the Round Table, there were presentations by Darmesh Nazgûl of the Kazakh National Agrarian Investigation University (Kazakhstan), Benazirsana Yumkhaibam of the Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for women (MCMDAV College) (India), Erin Colton-Enberg, founder of the social enterprise Projecto Florecer (USA-Colombia). The professor Mukazhanova F. M. of the Department of Foreign Languages also gave a talk at the Round Table.

The Round Table was followed by the Cultural Program which was a great opportunity for the students to showcase their poetic, musical and dance talents and culture, as well as living the SDG 5. The event allowed all those present to have a fun time, as well as to emphasize the importance of achieving gender equality and empowerment for all women and girls, which is the key to wellbeing and stable growth of society.
