Academics of the Department of Middle East and South Asia met with the Chairman of the Association of Iranian Studies

Academics of the Department of Middle East and South Asia A.Zh. Boranbaeva and G.A. Kambarbekova, during a trip to Iran, on March 19, 2024, met with Dr. Mahmoud Jafari Dehghi, a professor at the University of Tehran specializing in “Ancient languages and culture of Iran.” Dr. Jafari Dehghi is also the Chairman of the Board of the Iranian Studies Association. The Iranian Studies Association has a scientific journal and an official website. This Association is an active community that unites all Iranian Studies scholars inside and outside Iran.

During the meeting, academics of the Iranian Studies group of the Department of the Middle East and South Asia of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University exchanged views on future cooperation and joint research projects with the Iranian Studies Association led by Dr. Jafari Dehghi. Faculty members of the Iranian Studies group of the Department of Middle East and South Asia presented Dr. Jafari Dehghi with a recently published Persian-Kazakh phraseological dictionary. Dr. Jafari Dehghi, highly appreciating the publication of the Persian-Kazakh phraseological dictionary, said that he would organize a presentation of the above-mentioned dictionary within the framework of the first National Congress of Iranian Studies scholars, which will be held in May this year. At the same time, he noted that such dictionaries are very helpful in identifying many factors that influence life, consciousness, and worldview through language. Soon, it is expected that the academics of the Department of Iranian Studies of the Department of Middle East and South Asia of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Association of Iranian Studies will create research projects.
