IV International Scientific and Practical Conference “Rational Use of Medicines in Practical Medicine”

Within the framework of the project SDG 4.3.4 Educational outreach outside the university complex and SDG 3.3.2 - Health Education Programs, the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference “Rational Use of Medicines in Practical Medicine” was held on April 16, 2024 in Almaty. The event, which brought together leading domestic and foreign experts in the field of clinical pharmacology, health care organizers, researchers, practitioners, pharmacists, representatives of pharmaceutical companies and bachelors of the 4th year of educational program 6B07201 - Technology of pharmaceutical production, masters of 1 year of educational program 7M07203 - Technology of pharmaceutical production of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi. The event was organized by the “National Center for Expertise of Medicines and Medical Devices” together with the Professional Association of Clinical Pharmacologists and Pharmacists of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Medical Association of Professional Growth”. The conference featured presentations on a number of key topics. One of them was pharmacovigilance, where Malik Abdrakhmanov, Head of the Department of Pharmacovigilance and Monitoring of Safety, Effectiveness and Quality of Medical Devices of NCELS and MI, spoke in detail about the system of pharmacovigilance in Kazakhstan, its development and place in the modern drug industry.

The topics of transition to personalized medicine, the role of clinical pharmacologists in the rational use of medicines, continuous safety monitoring and the use of artificial intelligence in practical healthcare were also discussed.

The conference demonstrated the relevance and necessity of further interaction between scientific and practical spheres in medicine, pharmacology, and pharmacy aimed at finding optimal solutions to improve the quality of health care and patient safety.

The participants of the conference, as well as undergraduate and graduate students expressed hope that the topics and ideas discussed at the conference will become the basis for further research and practical applications, contributing to progress in the field of pharmacology in the region and beyond.
