On October 6, 2024, a national referendum will be held in Kazakhstan!
Citizens of Kazakhstan will be able to express their opinion on the following question:
"Do you agree with the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan?"
The decision to build a nuclear power plant should be based on a careful analysis of all factors. Nuclear energy offers significant benefits in terms of energy independence and reducing CO2 emissions, but it requires serious measures to ensure safety and manage waste. Despite its relative environmental cleanliness in terms of carbon emissions, nuclear energy poses serious ecological risks due to radioactive waste, the potential for accidents, thermal pollution, and the long-term effects of radiation exposure. These factors must be carefully assessed and effectively managed to minimize potential negative impacts on the environment. The final decision will depend on balancing the need for a sustainable energy future, economic factors, and environmental safety.
THIS REFERENDUM IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR EVERY CITIZEN TO TAKE PART IN SHAPING THE FUTURE OF THE COUNTRY’S ENERGY SECTOR.
🗳 Don’t forget to come to the polling stations on October 6 and make your choice!
