On September 19, 2024, teachers of the UNESCO Chair of Sustainable Development organized an environmental race (Plogging) along the Medeo- Gorelnik tourist route, as part of the celebration of the International Day of Student Sports and SDG 3 - "Good health and well-being".
In his Message dated September 2, 2024, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev indicated that the harmonious development of society is possible only if the health of the nation is ensured. Sports and a clean environment are integral parts of maintaining the healthy spirit of the younger generation.
On the eve of the International Student Sports Day, established by the United Nations together with the International Student Sports Federation (FISU), the head of the UNESCO club of those who are not indifferent to the environment, Tanybayeva A.K., organized an eco-tournament for students of the Faculty of Geography. Today, diving is gaining great popularity among young people who lead a healthy lifestyle and support the ideas of preserving the natural environment. The start of the race began with the health ladder of the Medeo alpine complex. The finish line of the relay was located at the Gorelnik Visitor Center. The participants collected 3 bags of garbage left by tourists, most of which were plastic bottles and paper waste.
The organizers of the event expressed gratitude to the 3rd year students of the OP "Ecology" for their active participation. Holding a sports clean-up allows you to maintain environmental sustainability and a healthy lifestyle.
