The referendum on atomic energy in the Republic of Kazakhstan 2024
The issue of construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) in Kazakhstan has become an important topic of discussion for the society. The President noted in his message that the final decision on the construction of the nuclear power plant will be made through a national referendum to take into account the opinion of every citizen. The Government is actively exploring possible locations for the station, as well as consulting with international safety and environmental experts. According to the authorities, the construction of a nuclear power plant will help to solve the problem of electricity shortages and ensure sustainable economic development. The referendum will allow citizens to express their attitude to the project and determine the further direction of the country's energy policy.
