On September 26, 2024, the group of the first-year students majoring in Translation Studies together with their advisor Y.A. Morugova successfully organized an event on the topic: “Combatting Nicotine.” The event was conducted within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 3: “Good Health and Well-Being,” and was aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and refusing from bad habits.
The event was also aimed at informing students about the health risks associated with nicotine, the negative effects of smoking, and strategies to overcome this addiction. The students were provided with scientific information about the slide effects of nicotine on the body, along with practical advice on how to quit smoking.
At the start of the event, the first-year adviser, Y.A. Morugova, delivered an opening speech focusing on the significance of telling young people about the dangers of smoking and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Then the students Kamila Kim and Aliya Kalkamanova t made the presentation on the crucial issues concerning nicotine, including the adverse effects of nicotine on health, international anti-nicotine initiatives, and strategies for overcoming nicotine addiction.
After the presentation, the participants discussed various strategies for fighting smoking, sharing their thoughts and suggestions. Ideas such as promoting healthy living in educational institutions and establishing special counseling centers for youth were proposed. The event raised awareness of the dangers of smoking and became a significant step in creating a healthier student environment.
