Application of GIS to solve problems in the mining industry (SDG 9: Building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization and innovation)
This topic examines the integration of higher education institutions (HEIs) and research institutes (research institutes), which can contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9, focusing on the creation of sustainable infrastructure, support for innovation and industrial development. As part of this goal, from September 30 to October 1, 2024, an international scientific and practical conference of the RSE "National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was held on the topic: "Innovations and integrated processing of mineral raw materials - important aspects of economic diversification."
Scientific directions of the conference:
1. Commercialisation of results of scientific and technical activity - priority of New Kazakhstan
2. Industry 4.0 in the mineral and raw materials complex
3. New technologies of extraction and processing of mineral raw materials 3.
In addition, the following points of view were emphasised during the discussion of the conference objectives:
- Discussion of current issues: Analysis of current challenges and opportunities in the field of sustainable infrastructure and new technologies.
- Examples of successful cases: Presentation of successful projects implemented as a result of cooperation between universities and research institutes.
- Networking: Development of recommendations on how to form partnerships between educational and research institutions to strengthen innovation capacity.
- Innovative approaches: Discussion of new technologies and methods that can be implemented to achieve sustainable development in industry.
- Youth Engagement: Stimulating the interest of students and young scientists in research and development in sustainable technologies.
At this conference, several scientists led by a professor from Al-Farabi KazNU made presentations on ‘Development of uranium deposits for the development of the country's energy sector’ (Oryngozhin E.S., Alisheva J.N., Oryngozha E.E., Zhangalieva M.).
