7 october, 2024

As part of the implementation of the President's Address to the people of Kazakhstan and SDG 16 “Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions,” an open curatorial hour was held on October 5, 2024, for second-year students of the "Ecology" educational program. The event aimed to discuss the important and relevant issue of equality before environmental law, which focuses on enhancing legal literacy and raising awareness of justice principles among the younger generation.

The senior- lecturer of UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development Khamitova K.K., familiarized the students with key aspects of Kazakhstan’s environmental legislation and international agreements, emphasizing the importance of equality before the law in the context of sustainable societal development. A significant highlight of the event was the President of Kazakhstan  Address of September 2, 2024, which stressed the need to build a just society where every citizen has equal rights and opportunities.

The discussion took place in an interactive format, allowing students to actively participate in the dialogue, ask questions, and share their thoughts. Students discussed how the principles of sustainable development can be integrated into various aspects of environmental policy, making them more effective and accessible to everyone.

Such curatorial hours not only deepen students’ knowledge in law and ecology but also help shape an active civic position, which is especially important today.
