The speaker noted that the implementation of gender equality is the main commitment of the UN Development Programme. Empowerment of women and gender equality are vital for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for the period up to 2030. Achieving the goal envisages a world of universal respect for human rights and human dignity, where every woman and girl enjoys full gender equality and all legal, social and economic barriers to their empowerment have been removed. Saimova Sholpan also noted that the gender equality strategy plays an important role in fulfilling these commitments and aims to support countries and communities in accelerating progress on gender equality and women's empowerment. The Gender Equality Strategy also aims to support public institutions in developing and implementing new policies aimed at overcoming negative gender stereotypes. These policies are planned to address key issues such as poverty, inequality, governance issues, sustainable development, environmental protection and gender equality.
