State programs: problems of water resources in Kazakhstan

In accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 – Quality education, SDG 6 – Clean water and sanitation, SDG 14 Conservation of marine ecosystems) On 16.10.2024, a guest lecture was organized at the Department of Economics within the framework of binary classes.

4th year students of the specialty "6B04103 - Economics" listened to a guest lecture by an expert on transboundary water cooperation representing the Kazakhstan branch, who is also an expert at the Scientific Information Center of the Interstate Coordinating Commission on Land Management in the Republic of Kazakhstan Kuralai Kalmaganbetovna Yahiyaeva.

The guest lecture was devoted to the topic "State programs: problems of water resources in Kazakhstan". During the lecture, Kuralai Kalmaganbetova raised issues of water resources of Kazakhstan in six water regions located on the territory of the country, and also considered existing problems related to the shortage of water resources both inside and outside the country. The expert also shared her thoughts on how the introduction of new technologies and approaches to water resources management can help to cope with the water crisis in Kazakhstan.

The guest lecture provoked a lively response among the students, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to discuss current issues with an expert and better understand the complexities of water policy at home and abroad.
