Students of the Faculty of International Relations promote the activities of the UN and 17 SDGs within the framework of the decade dedicated to the UN Day, the 90th anniversary of KazNU and the 10th anniversary of the UNAI hub
On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi KazNU hosted a quiz "What do you know about the UN?"
The event was organized by the Academic Regional Center for Information on the UN at the faculty and aimed at raising awareness of international students about the activities of the United Nations and involving young people in discussing the global agenda.
The main speakers were guests and representatives of the Faculty of International Relations.
Vlastimil Samek, representative of the UN Department of Global Communications in Almaty, emphasized the importance of youth participation in international governance. Then Sergiu Gaina, UNHCR officer on stateless persons in Central Asia, spoke about the problems of statelessness and Dana Baitukaeva, representative of UNICEF and UNISAT, highlighted the importance of the UN and knowledge about it among the younger generation.
Gulnara Baikushikova, Head of the International Relations and World Economy,Chair noted the importance of cooperation with UN agencies for the preparation of progressive specialists in international relations.
Leila Delovarova, Director of the Academic Regional Resource Center, emphasized the importance of the younger generation and its involvement in the discussion of global issues and the implementation of the 17 SDGs through strengthening ties with the UN.
The quiz questions covered a wide range of activities of UN agencies and the role of the organization.
The event ended with the announcement of the quiz results and the presentation of prizes to the winners. During the discussion in the final part of the event, students shared their impressions and thoughts on the role of the UN in international relations in general, and also touched upon the activities of Kazakhstan within the UN.
The quiz was an excellent opportunity for international relations students to deepen their knowledge of the UN and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
