A seminar was held within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 13 – “Climate Action.”

On October 23, 2024, Associate Professor of the Department of Financial, Customs, and Environmental Law at the Faculty of Law of KazNU, Candidate of Legal Sciences Zh.M. Amanzholov, conducted a class with 1st-year master’s students on the subject “Current Issues of Environmental Law.” The session was held within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 13 – “Climate Action.” The role of environmental law in combating climate change was discussed during the class.
The professor explained the legal mechanisms for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving carbon neutrality. Climate agreements and Kazakhstan’s international commitments were examined. The students exchanged views on improving environmental legislation and the legal aspects of efficiently using natural resources. The requirements of the Paris Agreement and its impact on national legislation were also discussed. Additionally, the session addressed the contradictions between Central Asian countries in implementing climate policies. The importance of environmental partnerships between the public and private sectors was highlighted. The necessity of transitioning to a green economy and utilizing renewable energy sources was also emphasized. The professor conducted a comparative analysis of international experiences in regulating the climate crisis. The students expressed their views on the role of environmental law in sustainable development. In conclusion, participants shared their ideas on improving climate policies.
